American Poker Award nominees revealed while Ben Tollerene wins and Stephen Chidwick goes deep at the US Poker Open. Find these stories and more in the Thursday Hit and Run.

Nominees for American Poker Awards Announced

The nominees have been revealed for the 4th Annual American Poker Awards. A total of 14 categories are up from grabs including Breakout Player, Tournament Performance, Moment of the Year and Event of the Year. An additional 7 “APA Honors” awards will be given away at the February 22nd ceremony at the Andaz West Hollywood in Los Angeles.

Poker Central led the way with six nominations while Doug Polk is up for three awards. Daniel Negreanu, Joe Ingram, Matt Savage and Lance Bradley also received multiple award nominations.

Ben Tollerene Wins $10,000 NLHE Event at US Poker Open

Ben Tollerene took down Event #5 at the US Poker Open on Wednesday. The $10,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em event awarded $187,600 to Tollerene for his first place victory when he outlasted a field of 67 players for the victory. The final table included Jack Schindler, Ryan Riess, Cary Katz, Kristina Holst and Rodger Johnson.

In Thursday’s action, Stephen Chidwick began the day as chip leader at the final table of Event #6, the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em. He was joined at the final table with Benjamin Pollak, Isaac Haxton, Jason Koon, Brian Green and Elijah Berg. By late afternoon Chidwick was knocked out in third with Jason Koon (4.4 million), holding a strong chip lead over Benjamin Pollak (1.7 million).

Thursday also saw the start of the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em, which had attracted 20 players by the time of this writing. Event #5 winner Ben Tollerene held the chip lead with a stacked field that included Daniel Negreanu, Adrian Mateos, Isaac Haxton, Dan Smith, Justin Bonomo and Erik Seidel.
